The first annual conference BI Forum 2009 has finished

On Thursday 26 November, the first professional conference BI Forum 2009, with the subheading "Performance of Data Warehouses" was held in the conference room of the company OKsystem. Lectures focused both on the area of data warehouses and on business intelligence.

After the welcome by Martin Procházka (director of the company OKsystem), the first foreign guest, Thomas Zimmer (Hewlett-Packard), spoke, with the presentation BI Mega Trends, Where we are today! There then followed the contribution of Jan Pour (KIT University of Economics in Prague) focussing on the principles, effects and preconditions for the functioning of BI. The afternoon block was completed by the acknowledged expert Jakub Illner (Oracle) with his view of the current trends in the area of data warehouses and business intelligence.

The second afternoon block focussed primarily on data warehouses. The speakers included representatives of the partners Hewlett-Packard and Oracle. Whereas the contribution of Václav Hubka (HP) focussed on the principles of the architecture of the MPP data warehouse, Josef Krejčí (Oracle) gained the interest of the audience with his contribution describing extreme infrastructure of data warehouses.

The third, afternoon, part consisted of lectures of the conference partners, MicroStrategy, and representatives of the organiser, the company OKsystem. The second foreign guest, Jürgen Löffelsender (MicroStrategy), talked about the use of reporting tools in the environment of financial institutions, and the entire conference was wound up by Jan Škanta (OKsystem), with a contribution about effective data sources for BI.

Mr Petr Koubský acted as host for the entire event before a packed room of 150 managers and IT specialists from the private and public sector. We hope that we will also be meeting you during next year's conference BI Forum 2010.
