AFC - Alternative family care

An information system of state social care.

Comprehensive republic-wide information system for arranging alternative family care. The company OKsystem developed the IS AFC on the basis of the Families Act as part of the state social policy information system.

AFC records applicants who are interested in adopting or fostering a child, and the children suitable for adoption or fostering. The output from the information system is a complete written notification for an application or decision on rejection of application.

The system works on three basic hierarchical levels:

• Regional authorities
• Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs
• Office for International Protection of Children

In the project modern technology was applied – multitier architecture with use of J2EE on the platform of the application server Oracle. For communication between the application server and client application the WAN network is used. The client application is written in the language Java, using Swing technology. For modelling of the processes CA AllFusion BPwin (originally Logic Works BPwin) was used, for data modelling, CA AllFusion ERwin (originally Logic Works ERwin Data Modeller), the system was developed in the environment JDeveloper from the firm Oracle.
