Information system for state social support

OKdávky is the name of a comprehensive republic-wide information system which processes the payment of state social support benefits. The OKdávky system works on three hierarchical levels which are remote contact places (approximately 390 places), local contact places (98 offices outside the territory of Prague which come under 76 public employment offices, in Prague coming under 22 city wards and the central level (Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. In the framework of the system OKdávky, officials process approximately 2 million newly submitted requests per year. Approximately three quarters of the inhabitants of the Czech Republic are recorded In the databases of contact places either as recipients of one of the benefits or as so-called jointly evaluated persons. The volume of the financial resources paid out every year to clients reaches up to CZK 32 billon.

In the project client/server technologies are applied with the operating system MS Windows with intuitive control on the client side and with the database system Oracle on the server side which makes it possible to work with massive volumes of data. The newly built mechanisms on the central hierarchical level are created in a multitier architecture with the use of J2EE on the platform of the application server Oracle.
